1. You Are Completely Forgiven
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
“Islam wipes out all that came before it.”
(Sahih Muslim)
That means your past sins are forgiven. You’re like a newborn in the eyes of Allah. Pure, clean, and spiritually refreshed.
2. Take It Step by Step
You don’t need to learn everything in one day. Islam is a lifelong journey.
Start with small, consistent steps. Think of today as the beginning of your connection with Allah, not a test you have to pass all at once.
3. Learn the Basics Gently
Here are a few foundational things to learn over the coming days and weeks:
a. How to Perform Wudu (Ablution)
This is a way to purify yourself before prayer. I can send you a visual or simple guide if you’d like.
b. How to Pray (Salah)
There are 5 daily prayers, but don’t stress! Start by learning the structure, then one prayer at a time—like Fajr (the morning prayer). Allah is Most Understanding.
c. Start Saying Bismillah and Alhamdulillah
These small phrases help bring Islam into your daily life:
- Bismillah – “In the name of Allah” (say before doing something)
- Alhamdulillah – “All praise is due to Allah” (say when you’re thankful)
4. Build a Relationship With Allah
Even if you don’t know Arabic or how to pray yet, just talk to Allah in your own language. He hears your heart before your words.
“I am near. I respond to the call of the caller when he calls upon Me.”
(Qur’an 2:186)
5. Find a Supportive Community
If possible, connect with:
- A local mosque (many have new Muslim programs)
- Online revert groups (I can recommend some)
- Other Muslims who are kind and patient
Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Islam encourages learning and seeking truth.
6. Celebrate This Day
This is one of the most important and beautiful days of your life. The angels rejoiced, and your name is now written among the believers.
“Verily, those who say: ‘Our Lord is Allah’ and then remain firm, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.”
(Qur’an 46:13)
7. You Belong Here
You are now part of a global family of over 1.9 billion Muslims—of every race, background, and language.
Whether you are just learning or already practicing, you are a Muslim.
What You Can Do Today (Simple Checklist):
- Reach out for support or ask questions—you’re not alone.
- Thank Allah in your heart for guiding you.
- Learn how to say the Shahadah again with understanding.
- Try to perform Wudu or read a simple guide on it.
- Begin learning how to pray (start with Fajr).
- Say “Bismillah” and “Alhamdulillah” during the day.
